Sui Dhaaga flustered us with its trailer a few days ago, and it’s now doing the same with its first song, titled Chaav Laaga. Helming this upcoming film is Sharat Kataria, while the music and lyrics have been provided by Anu Malik and Varun Grover, respectively. The last time this trio collaborated, they gave us one of the most memorable albums of recent times in the form of Dum Laga Ke Haisha.

If the two albums are to be juxtaposed, Chaav Laaga can be described as Sui Dhaaga’s Moh Moh Ke Dhaage. It’s an extremely melodious track with a honey-sweet undertone. Papon is a perfect fit for Chaav Laaga, with his pleasantly soft voice. Ronkini Gupta is the other singer in this duet, who adds a sort of an old school charm to it with her voice.

Anu Malik’s brilliant composition wouldn’t have manifested if it wasn’t for Varun Grover’s expert Hindi poetry. The word “chaav” means passion and is used to describe the sweet pain that true love brings with it. The chorus hence goes, “Tera chaav laaga jaise koi ghaav laaga.” The lines at the start of the song are even more endearing – “Kabhi sheet laaga. Kabhi taap laaga. Tere saath ka hai jo shaap laaga.”

It is very hard to get this song out of your head after listening to it once. It’s safe to say that the makers, Varun Grover, Sharat Katariya and Anu Malik have given us one more Moh Moh Ke Dhaage. The song’s effect is compounded even more by its music video that’s out now on the YRF YouTube channel.

Pictured on Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan, it looks to highlight the unique spark that exists in their relationship. More than anything, it puts a smile on your face. Director Sharat Kataria, after the ravishingly fresh Dum Laga Ke Haisha, seems set to once again give us a heartfelt, audacious story that’ll have us exiting the theatre with a dreamlike experience.

Sui Dhaaga is set to be released in theatres across India on September 28, and apart from Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan, it also stars veteran actor Raghubir Yadav, among others.
