Reema Kagti’s historical sports biographical drama ‘Gold’ has gained extreme popularity and interest among the audience due to its unusual Akshay Kumar – Mouni Roy pairing and its extraordinary music. “Bolte Parini” is the eighth song to be released from the soundtrack. The song was officially released on the YouTube on 9 August 2018, and it has earned more than 22,671 views in a day.

“Bolte Parini” has been composed and sung by Bollywood singer Arko aka Arko Pravo Mukherjee, and the lyrics have written by Chandrani Ganguli. The song was mixed and mastered by Aditya Dev and Eric Pillai respectively. The song was choreographed by Rekha Chinni Prakash, and the song was directed by Alvaro Gutierrez AEC. If you have already listened to “Naino ne baandhi” from Gold, you will realize, that Bolte Parini is the Bengali version of the same song.

To speak of the music video, it is the same video that we have seen in the song Naino ne baandhi. We feel that as if we have been taken back to the nostalgic world of 1950s with the muted color palette, black-and-white photographs, the old-style buildings and telephones making a recurrent appearance throughout the songs. Into these artefacts of the past, we seem the love blossoming between Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy as husband and wife. Kumar nails playing the loving husband who buys ‘gajra’ for his wife to seemingly enhance her beauty. Mouni, in her debut, pulls of the role of a traditional and caring wife quite well. The lyrics as written by Chandrani Ganguli, speak of the lover’s feelings for his beloved. They have been written in pure Bengali, which adds to the authenticity and beauty of the song.

Arko, with his lifting voice and flawless Bengali on point, has captured the old-world charm and innocence of the song. He has now cemented a place for him in Bollywood through his composition of previous superhit songs “Abhi Abhi”, “Allah Waariyan”, “Tere Sang Yaara” and “O Saathi”, to name a few.

Once in a while, we crave for soft, soothing yet heartwarming songs that make us realize the power of love. Eagerly waiting for the release of the movie, we hope to see the love of Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy in full bloom in the drama. “Gold” will be an Independence Day-release, and will hit the theatres on 15 August, 2018.
