As was being teased for a while, a new song from Ed Sheeran has been released as a single for his upcoming No.6 Collaborations Project. Called ‘Beautiful People,’ This track has him collaborating with ‘Location’ hitmaker Khalid. A music video has also been released for it, which exactly matches the premise of the lyrics. ‘Beautiful People’ speaks about how you don’t need to be ‘beautiful’ in the conventional sense in order to be happy.

Ed Sheeran establishes this premise by challenging the traditional notions of beauty. The chorus elucidates this with the words, “Beautiful people. Drop top, designer clothes. Front row at fashion shows. ’What d’you do?’ and ‘Who d’you know?’ Inside the world of beautiful people. Champagne and rolled-up notes. Prenups and broken homes. Surrounded, but still alone. Let’s leave the party.”

Khalid’s verse also follows the same route. It goes, “We don’t fit in well, we are just ourselves. I could use some help gettin’ out of this conversation, yeah. You look stunning, dear, so don’t ask that question here. This is my only fear: that we become beautiful people.”

The music video has a very ordinary looking couple being invited to a fancy party, and them finding nothing quite intriguing there. They go about minding their own business, even while on a yacht party. It’s a well-made music video that complements the song beautifully.

‘Beautiful People’ is the third single from No.6 Collaborations Project. As its name implies, this album features Ed Sheeran teaming up with some of the top artists in the music industry. The first single to have been released was ‘I Don’t Care’ in which Ed collaborated with Justin Bieber. And the second one was ‘Cross Me’ in which he was seen teaming up with Chance the Rapper and PnB Rock.

No.6 Collaborations Project is slated to release across streaming platforms on July 12.
