You can’t foresee the future and hence preparation is necessary, even if it’s just a date. There are days when nothing is going is right and what if one of those days is when you’re on a date? Well, there’s definitely a way to save it.
Talk about bad dates ending well, Hollywood actress Salma Hayek once mentioned, “My first date with my husband started badly. I didn’t know it was a date. I thought I was going to an event, and then there was just one person at it. I was set up by friends to think I was going to an event because they knew I wouldn’t go on a date. I was angry. And he didn’t know because he thought I knew he was coming just to meet him. It started out really badly. But as you can see, it ended happy.”
Here’s what you can do when your date is going south:
Stay Calm
If you find yourself amidst a date that is slipping away from your hands, don’t panic. It may happen that after you realize something is going wrong you start babbling that may put the other person off even more. Try to make the other person drive conversation so that they are at their most comfortable. This can certainly save you a bit.
Keep Your Body Language In Check
The moment you start losing your confidence, your body may start showing the reactions. Don’t let the other person see you eye-rolling, talking to yourself, hunching your back etc. These are clear signs that something is amiss with you and may give your date the impression that you’re not interested.
Keep The Drinks At Bay
If you’re a panic drinker, don’t even think of touching that glass. Your over drunk behaviour can worsen the date. You may end up talking utter nonsense under the influence of alcohol putting your date in an awkward situation.
Be Honest
If you think the date is not heading in the right direction, be honest about it. Don’t try to fake things to make it better because, in the long run, it will definitely affect you. If the other person has to like you, it has to be the way you are and it is completely fine in case you don’t click with them on the first or second date.
Don’t Dial For Advice
The worst thing to do in case your date is heading to a dump is to call a friend for advice. They are not witnessing it and their advice is not going to save you, at least there’s no guarantee. You’d rather try to talk it out with the date than take a stupid advice.
