Explanation Where It Is Due
It is best to be honest with the people close to you like family and friends from your inner circle. They will be able to support you till the shock wears off. These are often the right people to help you remedy your weaknesses and help you stay on the right path. You can thoroughly evaluate the situation, introspect on why you might be fired, and then work to improve the situation. There is no harm in asking help from some close people. It is not a very good idea to try and fight the situation alone.

Leveraging Your Network
This is also a great time to reach out to your professional network as you start looking for the next opportunity. What you tell them requires tact. You might not want to be very transparent about what happened, but you can tell them what kind of opportunity you are looking for. For instance, that the job required a higher skill set, and you are looking for a position where you could hone these skills. You can also use this opportunity to explore and find something that would be better suited to your inclinations.
Dealing With The Naysayers
There might always be some who seem vindicated by your step back. It is better to say the least to these negative reactions. Ruchi Doshi, Account Manager at SRV Media, says, “You have to be crisp about your situation, but never be impolite. You might never know whose help you might require in the future.”
