‘Kiss me, and you will see how important I am.’
– Sylvia Path
Kissing is an act that is very important to almost every couple. It is not only one of the most pleasing gestures, but also a gesture through which couples connect on a whole new level of intimacy. Most often, kissing is perceived as a means to initiate arousal for sex. It is also seen as a gesture that couples share in order to strengthen their relationships. But there is another lesser known and very important characteristic of kissing- mate assessment.

Several studies and researches on Kissing have suggested that kissing probably allows people to evaluate a potential partner through the sense of taste or smell, picking up on biological cues for compatibility, genetic fitness or general health.
Researchers say that kissing a romantic partner helps women assess the genetic quality of a potential mate. Basically, there’s a complex exchange of ‘visual, tactile, postural and chemical information based on olfactory and gustatory cues’ during kissing. Components triggered during a kiss evaluate have the potential to determine ‘genetic compatibility and reproductive viability’. For example, if you feel disconnected and indifferent after kissing your potential partner, it is possible that you subconsciously detected signals of incompatibility.

In short, when people kiss they in fact exchange a massive amount of biological information and that’s when women subconsciously pick up pheromones and genetic information that helps her choose and take a more informed decision.
Apart from that, another major happening during the act of kissing is the harmonization of brain activity of the two individuals involved. The spike in brain activity and the degree of synchronization allows the potential partners to better understand each other.

This is the reason why sometimes even a good kiss feels wrong and unpleasant while even a bad kiss makes you feel a lot of nice things.
All of this in conclusion can make you say GO or NO. In any case, you will be happier knowing that you kissed and made an informed choice. There you go, now even science backs our choice to kiss. Kiss it out, you guys.
