15th May is celebrated the world over as the International Day of Families, and it is recognized by the United Nations as it looks at families as the strongest and most basic unit of a society.

As a young adult, a teen or a youngster, you may have hated your family countless times. They are annoying, never seem to understand you, are always making you do what you don’t like doing, and seem to take you for granted.

But this could be a day when you may want to reach out to the other members of your family. It can be a good way to show you care, and hey, can earn you some brownie points with your family too!

1. Dish Up An Easy Snack

This is super easy and you won’t have to run around in the kitchen like a cooking contestant on a Gordon Ramsay show. Instead, go online and check out some videos for easy to make snack recipes. Try out something that seems the safest. If you never cook at home but make something as simple as even a sandwich today, it will really be a big happy surprise.

2. Say You Want To Talk

You think this is something that no one will care about, but if you say this to your parents, they will probably go into shock for a moment. Why not take out some time today and sit with them? Talk to them about what all is going on in your life, ask them what’s happening in theirs and get to know about each other as a family.

3. Write A Thank You Note To Your Mom

Ever wondered how she might be feeling if she is always caring for you and looking after everyone’s needs in the house? Maybe she wakes up early to make you breakfast and give you lunch for the day, maybe she waits the entire day thinking you will call her today, especially if you are in a different city and have not met her in some time. If you live with your parents, you can write them a note today, thanking them for all the times they have silently been there for you as a support. And if you are far, the best way to show them your love is to pick up the phone and call. Did we say right now?

And if you have a sibling, maybe today you could get into a sacrifice mode and not fight!
